Gregg Allman

On Wednesday, January 2, 2013 Austin’s ACL –Live at the Moody Theater was privileged to play host to one of Rock’s legendary performers, Gregg Allman.

As a founding member of the Allman Brothers Band, the now 65 year old Allman has been touring for as long as most can remember. He is now touring in support of his seventh solo album, Low Country Blues. This is his first album in 13 years.

Allman, backed by a band of talented young musicians, played some of his most well-known songs as well as many Allman Brothers classics including “Statesboro Blues,” “Wasted Words,” “Melissa,” and “Midnight Rider.” Allman was joined on stage by his son, Devon, who played guitar on “Dreams.”

The audience really appreciated a gorgeous rendition of Jackson Browne’s “These Days” performed by Allman accompanying himself on the acoustic.

Allman proved to the audience he still has what it takes to make it in the world of rock and roll with some great powerful performances of “Whipping Post” and “One Way Out.” It was great to see that this legend is still going strong.
