Iconic rocker and actor, Michael Lee Aday, better known to the music world as Meat Loaf, kicked off his Mad Mad World tour in support of his new album, Hell in a Handbasket, on June 22, 2012 in Austin, Texas at ACL Live at the Moody Theater.

The Texas native, and now Austin resident, who turns 65 this year, delivered a solid two hour show that still rocked his enthusiastic fans. Joining Meat Loaf on stage was his longtime band, The Neverland Express. The band of accomplished musicians includes guitarist Paul Crook, drummer/percussionist John Miceli, vocalist Patti Russo, guitarist/vocalist Randy Flowers, saxophonist/vocalist David Luther, keyboardist/vocalist Justin Avery, bassist Danny Miranda, and violinist/vocalist Ginny Luke.

Meat Loaf’s setlist for the evening included 16 selections from his various albums including “I’d Do Anything for Love (But I Won’t Do That)” which won him a Grammy Award for Best Rock Vocal Performance.

Opening for Meat Loaf on the night was Austin-based, Nakia, who found fame as a contestant on NBC’s The Voice singing competition. Nakia presented a short but energetic set featuring his strong bluesy vocals.
