Dear Supporter, Over the course of eight years, the support of donors like you has allowed Cell Phones for Soldiers to grow by leaps and bounds and most importantly to provide more than 150 million minutes of free talk time to servicemen and women. With the help of long-time supporter AT&T, Cell Phones for Soldiers is excited to launch a new program, “Helping Heroes Home”! Helping Heroes Home is a new initiative designed to provide emergency funds for returning veterans to alleviate communication challenges as well as physical, emotional and assimilation hardships.

With thousands of servicemen and women returning from active duty, Helping Heroes Home will address the ever-increasing need to provide fast relief in the form of phone service, paying for an overdue bill, urgent car repairs, emergency medical expenses, and more. The program initially will serve veterans in the Northeast with a national roll out planned for later this year. Join Cell Phones for Soldiers in celebrating this milestone. Please consider making a donation today to support this newest initiative. Thank you all for your continued support. We couldn’t have achieved this milestone without you all! Sincerely, The Bergquist Family

Did you know? * Currently in the United States, one in seven homeless persons is a veteran. * One and a half million veterans are at risk of homelessness due to poverty, lack of support networks, and dismal living conditions in overcrowded or substandard housing. * Thirty percent of veterans ages 18 to 24 were unemployed according to the unpublished 2011 Bureau of Labor Statistics data. * More than 968,000 of veterans ages 18 to 64 had been in poverty in the past year. * More than one million veterans used mental health services in 2010.
