Ziggy Marley “JAMMIN’” at ACL Live

On Wednesday, May 2, 2012, patrons of Austin City Limits Live at the Moody Theater were “JAMMIN” to the beat as Ziggy Marley brought his reggae sounds to the stage. The five-time Grammy winning musician, actor, artist, activist, and humanitarian is on tour supporting his fourth studio album, “Wild and Free.”

Ziggy MarleyZiggy, the eldest son of the late, great Reggae master, Bob Marley, worked to keep this album as traditional as possible yet also show his own unique artistry and vision. Ziggy says this album is the most political and personal he has produced.

Marley performed songs from his own collection as well as his famous father’s. Some of the numbers included on his set list were: “Get Up, Stand Up,” “Is This Love?,” “War,” “Tomorrow People,” “True To Myself,” “Changes, “ “Work,” “Look Who’s Dancing Now, “ and the title track of his newest album, “Wild and Free.”

Marley was backed by an amazing group of musicians: guitarist Takeshi Akimoto, bassist Darryl Jones, keyboardist James Poyser, drummer Carlton “Santa” Davis, and percussionist Rock Dreadrick.

Opening for Marley was local Austin Reggae artists, Don Chani.
