SantanaLegendary guitarist Carlos Santana and his band exploded onto the stage during their recent visit to Austin for two shows at Austin City Limits Live at the Moody Theater.  Santana is on tour to support his latest endeavor, Guitar Heaven: The Greatest Guitar Classics of All Time.

Carlos performed many of his greatest hits including “Black Magic Woman,” “Oye Como Va,” “Evil Ways,” “Smooth” and “Maria Maria” as well as covers of ACDC, Jimi Hendrix, John Coltrane and Cream.  Santana also paid tribute to the late, great Stevie Ray Vaughan, saying that the venue was “the house that Stevie Ray Vaughan built.”  The band was joined on stage by Chris Layton, Vaughan’s Double Trouble drummer.

Opening for Santana was Michael Franti and Spearhead. Franti, playing his unique acoustic guitar, easily engaged the crowd.  His enthusiasm was infectious as he joined the audience, singing from the concert floor and each of the venues two balconies.
