All Good FestivalFor the 16th year, All Good Festival has lived up to its reputation as one of the best camping music festivals in the U.S. Held from July 14 through the 17th, All Good Festival brought in a wide array of talented performers.

Phil Lesh and Bob Weir of the Grateful Dead opened the summer tour of their band Furthur as a main headliner. Warren Haynes beat the heat with his new band, the Warren Haynes Band which put on a smokin’ set featuring many songs from their new album, Man in Motion. Les Claypool rocked the place Saturday night with Primus and Pretty Lights (Derek Smith) had main stage lit up to a never ending array of psychedelic colors, patterns and images going on well past their scheduled performance time of 4am playing music till dawn instead!

Featuring topnotch Bluegrass were Yonder Mountain String Band, Greensky Bluegrass and Hot Buttered Rum. Sunday brought on world class Reggae with Toots and the Maytals and Dark Star Orchestra kept many through Sunday evening with their Grateful Dead grooves.

One of the many great things about All Good Festival is that the two stages are angled out at about 30° apart and are scheduled so that when one performance is finished, the next show on the adjacent stage starts right up so attendees just turn to face the other stage and they’re there. Set in the lush hills of West Virginia, the festival is a perfect location for camping and there are rolling hills making it an adventurous place to explore. For great convenience, there are golf cart checkered taxi cabs that shuttle folks anywhere on site for a mere $3. By the stages an up on vendor row there were ample places to get a bite to eat, beer and coffee.

Another great perk at All Good Festival is their shower setup, besides the typical shower trailers, they also have more permanent outdoor concrete shower stalls that spacious and open aired which was a great way to beat the midday heat which was quite hot but not as sweltering as many of the summer festivals this summer. All Good Festival this year had a waterslide, Ferris Wheel and numerous workshops including drumming and hoop classes. Other music highlights were the Everyone Orchestra, STS0 (Sound Tribe Sector 9), Umphrey’s McGee and Galactic to name a few. Another thing that special is the high number of beautiful ladies there which is something that seems to be consistent with All Good Festival.
