COLD’S NEW ALBUM SUPERFICTION OUT TODAY

ALBUM DEBUTS AS THE #2 ROCK ALBUM AND #14 OVERALL ON iTUNES

Album’s Lead Single “Wicked World” Breaks Top 25 at Radio

Band Elicits Touching Personal Reactions from Fans

On Tour This Summer With Volbeat

July 19, 2011 (New York, NY) — Jacksonville, FL melodic-rockers Cold have released their fifth album Superfiction today via Eleven Seven Music. The album, the band’s first since 2005, has already taken spots on iTunes’ album charts as the #2 rock and #14 overall album, at the time of press. The lead single, “Wicked World” has also moved into the Top 25 at active rock radio, and is poised to climb.

On Superfiction, Cold merge vivid, vibrant storytelling with elegantly heavy hard rock. It’s a combination that the band has perfected since they burst onto the scene in 2003 with Year of the Spider, which went to #3 on The Billboard 200 chart and spurred the hit “Stupid Girl.”

Building on the band’s affinity towards graphic artists, Cold enlisted Trevor Niemann to illustrate an image for each song on Superfiction, which can be seen in the album artwork.

Frontman Scooter Ward states, “The concept behind Superfiction was to create a fictional world of stories and sound that develop a world of escape, while also setting a goal to make people feel a personal attachment to the characters, bringing the characters and images to life. The illustrations throughout the album are specific scenes that I envisioned while writing the lyrics.”

When asked where the band’s inspiration to continue making music comes from, Ward adds, “Our fans are extremely dedicated and passionate. The Cold Army continuously inspires us and we receive deeply personal and incredibly touching stories from our fans.”

Recent comments from fans to the band:

“Cold gave me peace of mind, knowing that the broken and bruised have a voice and can not be silenced.”

“Cold has been the positive in my life that I’ve turned to throughout the last 10 years. When I’ve had no friends, no family, no religion, no guide… I’ve had Cold. They truly saved my life.”

“It’s like a light in the dark helping me find my way. Years ago I was addicted to cocaine. One day I heard their song and I promised myself I would change. I’ve been clean for years now. Cold never knew it, but they helped save the life of a girl from Kentucky.”

“Cold means safety. Cold means I am always loved. Cold means someone understands. Cold means I will always have a home. Cold means one day at a time. Cold means life.”

“In 2008, I attempted suicide. I was thrown into the darkest hell I had ever known. I listened to Cold’s music at least 100 times over the month. I was in there. I got my own interpretation of it. Cold changed my life.”

“My husband called me from Camp Navistar, at the border crossing of Kuwait and Iraq. He played a Cold song for me.  He had purchased their CD without even knowing a thing about the band. Cold’s lyrics literally carried us through the deployment.”

“Cold’s music has helped me beyond a broken heart, twisted ego and ripped soul by showing me that I wasn’t alone in my brokenness. If it weren’t for Cold’s emotional lyrics, my suicide wish would’ve been granted.  I found strength in Cold’s music and found myself not alone, but with hope. Thank you.”
