IF YOU’RE LOOKING FOR A WILD TIME THIS SUNDAY, THIS MY FRIENDS IS IT!!!!!

(Long Beach) – It’s got all the essential ingredients for the classic quintessential classic weekend soiree’ at the beach in Southern California: Bikes (ride up on your Harley (or reasonable facsimile thereof) and park it right at the door; Booze (huge bar, lots of great beers on tap); Broads (a no-brainer; everyone knows the most beautiful women in the world reside in Southern California…and they always flock to the beach in the Summer!); and finally, Blues – in the singular person of guitarist-vocalist extraordinaire, Long Beach’s very own K.K. Martin.

We’re talking “Bikes n’ Blues at The Gaslamp, 6251 E. Pacific Coast Highway, Long Beach, this Sunday, August 7 from 4-7 p.m. Cover charge? Hell no!! Info: (562) 596-4718 or www.facebook.com/gaslamp1. Suntan lotion? optional but heartily suggested!

With a newly-minted endorsement from one of the world’s premier makers of guitar pickups; featured radio airplay on over 100 U.S. stations; headlining appearances at multiple festivals; and great review for his new CD, one would have to agree the Gods of the Blues are smiling on the fortunes of the aforementioned K.K. Martin.

European-based Cream T Pickups, who are currently represented by the likes of ZZ Tops’ Billy Gibbons and Matt “Guitar” Murphy, will soon add the talented Martin to their “Signature Solo” roster of endorsers, thereby exposing the talented Delta Blues-style guitarist to a worldwide audience through the powerful distribution vehicle umbrella of ITunes. Airplay-wise, Martin’s track “No One Can Forgive Me” will be featured on the popular nationally-syndicated Blues Deluxe radio show airing July 16-23. Blues Deluxe is currently aired to over 100 terrestrial radio stations throughout the U.S. and internationally with a two-million plus listener-ship.

On the heels of Martin’s tour de force performance at the Real Blues Festival of Orange County 2 where he wowed the crowd (“everybody ‘brought it’ to RBF2 but my choice for MVP of the day is K.K. Martin. This man lives to play the Blues,” raved Casey Reagan from American Blues News)  – K.K. has been tapped to perform at the upcoming Kern River Rock & Blues Festival in the picturesque town of Kernville, Calif on September 30. Leading up to that, Martin will maintain a weekly Wednesday night in-house musical residency during the entire month of July at the Golden Sails in Long Beach; as well as a Birthday (Blues!) Bash at Brix in Sunset Beach on Sunday, July 24 (special 3 p.m. start time). There’s also a September 17 gig at one of SoCal’s premier concert venues, the Coach House in San Juan Capistrano. This is clearly a man in demand!!

In April Martin presented “Blues For the Rising Sun,” a Long Beach-based Blues Relief Concert whose proceeds aided the victims of Japan’s earthquake and tsunami.

Martin’s new CD, Naked Blues Vol. II has been released to critical acclaim. “A genuine bluesman who believes in keeping it real…with his acoustic guitar on his knee and original songs to communicate with, he carries the torch of tradition and keeps it alive,” writes Jim Santella in SOUTHLAND BLUES. “Very adept acoustic guitarist that has put together a solid CD of traditional blues tunes…this CD is worth the listen. I think you’ll find it rewarding,” says B-Man in AMERICAN BLUES BLOG. “For Naked Blues Volume II, K.K. Martin is at the other end of the spectrum, because there is just him, his guitar, and a microphone, and thus his talent has to shine thru and shine thru brightly, and believe me, on this Album, is does all that and more,” opines John Vermilyea in BLUES UNDERGROUND NETWORK. “A modest, intimate recording that boasts all the virtues that are associated with the rustic, acoustic variety of blues music…as naked as they come,” asserts Brian Lush, host of ROCKWIRED Radio Show.

K.K. Martin – Some Background

K.K. Martin was a founding member, lead guitarist, singer and songwriter for 80’s-era band A La Carte. The group gained considerable renown as one of the most in-demand groups on the then-vibrant Sunset Strip music scene. Exposed in the womb to the music of Jimmie Rodgers. Robert Johnson and Hank Williams, he began touring with his parents at age 10. K.K. was transplanted to California in 1969 and cut his teeth on the local L.A. rock scene at age 16, landing a brief stint with the Albert Collins backup band. Martin has performed with a Who’s-Who in the music business including Eric Burdon, Booker T, Rick Derringer, Johnny Winters, Blondie, and currently, Lester Chambers of  famed R&B/Soul group The Chambers Brothers. K.K. was a recipient of “Outstanding Blues Artist” at the 9th Annual Los Angeles Music Awards in 1999. In the last decade, Louisiana native Martin has reconnected with his Blues roots. He toured with Lester Chambers of the 60’s Chambers Brothers fame, recording a project with Lester called “Blues for Sale”. Martin has continued to play extensively throughout L.A. and Orange County as a solo act, and will be performing at Real Blues Festival 2 in May of this year.
