Country music legend Trace Adkins was honored at the recent 2011 Florida Strawberry Festival by Doug Ranno , founder of Florida strawberry grower Colorful Harvest, who presented Adkins with a custom made Musical Harvest™ strawberry themed guitar. A novice singer/songwriter, Ranno penned the BMI ode to veterans “Part of Me” which was a popular song in 1986.

The gift was to honor Adkins for his efforts to raise awareness of childhood food allergies, a condition which afflicts over 3 million children in the U.S. alone according to the Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network (FAAN).  In addition to a love of country music, both men have young daughters with severe food allergies and are actively working to alleviate their discomfort: Adkins through his work with FAAN and Ranno by creating Colorful Harvest, a company that grows nutritious, brightly colored heirloom style fruits and vegetables, berries and melons that are easily tolerated by food allergy sufferers.
