Styx brought their old-school rock to ACL – Live, Austin’s newest venue, in February 2011. Styx has continued to rock the world since their beginnings in a Chicago basement in the early 1970’s. Original band members, front men Tommy Shaw and James “JY” Young were joined on stage by award winning keyboardist / singer Lawrence Gowan, Austin residents Ricky Phillips and Todd Sucherman, and founding member and bass player, Chuck Panozzo.

The band quickly brought the crowd to their feet, opening the show with “Blue Collar Man.” The crowd of 2,400 fans continued to be rocked by the legendary group with favorite numbers including “Lady”, “Crystal Ball”, and “Come Sail Away.” Styx closed out the night with an encore which included “Walrus” and “Renegade.”
