The Waddy Watchel Band (WWB), long time local Hollywood favorite, put on their best show in 2009 last Monday night at The Joint on the corner of Pico and Robinson. These rock stars dazzled the audience with their electrifying yet soulful favorites. Waddy Watchel did his expert arena ‘Rock’ style jamming with his very talented all-star band; Phil Jones, Rick Rosas, Bernard Fowler, Blondie Chaplin and Jamie Savko. Adam Sandler and Keith Allison were the special drop in guests.
The Waddy Watchel Band was on fire… sleighing through their first set with "You Got Me Rockin' (Rolling Stones) with Waddy Watchels’ harmonic vocals and smoking guitar. Stellar performances were given from all; Bernard Fowler wowing us with his expert lead vocals, Blondie Chaplin’s’ soulful harmony vocals and rhythm guitar, with Phil Jones hard banging drums, and Rick Rosas’ pimpy bass. Jamie Savko nailed the vocals on "Girl's Got Rhythm" (AC/DC) among others.
Guest star Keith Allison spiced up the set with his lead vocals and classic rhythm strumming in, “The Shape I’m In” (The Band). The set also included;” Going to a Go-Go" (The Miracles), “Desiree” (The Left Bank), and "Lawyers Guns and Money" (Warren Zevon). The powerful set concluded with “Run Run Rudolph” (Johnny Marks and Marvin Brodie),” Jail Break" (Thin Lizzy) and "Rocks Off" (Rolling Stones).
The amazing second set started with Adam Sandler rocking the house down fronting,“Bitch” (Rolling Stones) and his gut wrenching rendition of “Powder finger” (Neil Young). Other highlights included Bernard Fowlers moving vocals in “Heroes" (David Bowie) and “Street Fighting Man” (Rolling Stones) with Blondie’s harmony vocals. Keith played one more, “Poor Poor Pitiful Me" (Warren Zevon). For the finale, The Waddy Watchel Band rocked in the Christmas spirit with “Sin City” (AC/DC) / “Little Drummer Boy” (Katherine K. Davis) with Bernard on lead vocals and Blondie harmony vocals.
