Get ready for Push Play
Interview
By Noele Shannon
They may be new to you but not for long. These up-n-comers have the most added single at Top 40 radio right now and are touring in its support, plus the video for "Midnight Romeo" features Hannah Montana’s Emily Osment, how much cooler can a new band get? Well read on and see for yourself.
Congrats on your tour. Looks like you are playing some big venues, how’s that going for you so far? Any highlights you can share?
So far it’s been great, we got off to a bit of a rough start, we started the tour off with Jessie James but unfortunately things didn’t work out for her, so she actually never started the tour with us. So we were kind of left with the entire tour to do by ourselves but it’s been great so far.
Derek: This tour is a lot different just because there is a lot of radio support, like at every single show, that’s also really cool, it’s like a step up.
What is your favorite song to play live and why?
Steve: My favorite song to play live is “Watch it Burn”, I just feel like it’s an awesome, in your face first impression. I always love playing that song.
Nick: I also like ‘WIB’, I also like “Heart Attack” as well, I like the bass line I play in there its fun.
CJ: My favorite song to play live is either “Start Again” or “Taking it Back” I like Start Again cause it’s really powerful in the lyrics and “Taking it Back” cause I get to move out and dance.
Derek: My favorite song to play live is probably “My everything” just because there are some really fun drum parts and I get to go all out on it.
I was reading about your contest for the next ‘Midnight Juliet’ at each of your shows. How has the response been for that?
It’s just a great part to get the fans involved and actually bring them up on stage. We sing them one of our songs called “Where I belong”, so we bring the Midnight Juliet up on stage and we sing to her. I just feel like it’s a great way to interact with the fans and everyone has a chance. We run a twitter competition and we choose a midnight Juliet for every show.
Your fan base was largely created via your own efforts online, how hard is it currently for you to keep that personal connection now that your schedule is so packed?
We like to keep connection no matter what. Regardless, we have Twitter and that’s kind of the most effective way right now.
We still try to get on the Myspace and Facebook and stuff like that, just being on the road and being as busy as we are its a lot more difficult just being able to reply and direct message someone right then.
Your first single “Midnight Romeo” is very catchy, I really like it. I see Emily Osment made a cameo in the video and will be joining the tour, how was/is that working with her?
Nick: It’s gonna be great. A lot of people don’t know this but we were also in her “All the Way up” music video. So she did a cameo in ours and we did a cameo in hers, she is also a ‘Wind Up’ artist believe it or not, she’s not Disney. So we all became close at the video shoots and we thought it would a great idea to tour so it looks like we are gonna do some dates together and were all really excited.
What’s the next single we can expect?
It’s actually gonna be a song called “Taking it Back,” were just kind of looking at what we can do to make it the best it can possibly be. We might do a collab. We have a lot of different artists that we might collab(orate) with kinda to ya know make the song a little bit different than the other things that are out there. So it will be the next single in some way, shape or form.
Since you guys are tour bussing it, can you mention any favorite road/truck stops?
We stop a lot at malls lately, malls are fun, and there is everything for everyone. If somebody needs to get something there is all the stores and there is a food court so everyone gets a choice.
Any final words we can share with your fans?
Thank you so much for coming out and supporting us. Big or small we are having fun every single night. Thank you to everyone who has been there since the beginning and who continues to. Make sure to pick up our new album ‘Found’ in stores right now.
