Gunfire76 – “Casualties and Tragedies”

CD Review

Gunfire76 – “Casualties and Tragedies”Every now and then you come across a CD that you absolutely fall in love with and can’t stop listening to, no matter what. This is the case with Wednesday 13’s new project, Gunfire76. I anxiously awaited the release of the new CD, “Casualties and Tragedies,” and listened to new songs as they were posted on myspace. But, I didn’t really fall in love until I had it in my hands. It was similar to the Wednesday stuff, where you know it’s him, but different enough to stand on its own. Gunfire76 is fun, straight up rock and roll, with NO MENTION of horror movies. Songs are about good times, drinking, and living life with no regrets.

The CD starts out with the heavy, fun and fast “Let’s Kill the Hero.” From there, the title track and “Nothings All I Need,” are so much fun to listen to it’s impossible to sit still! You will have to move or rock something! The fourth track “Los Angel-Less,” took a minute to grow on me. Maybe because I live in this Angel-less city… But after a few listens, it is now one of my favorite songs on the CD. The idea behind the song is that Los Angeles is Angel-less, and it states “as far as I can see, it’s just a trail of broken wings.” This brings a reality into the typical fantasy songs about Hollywood and L.A.

Track 6 just grooves sexiness as Wednesday looks for “Something for the Suffering.”

And I’m sure we can all relate to “One More Reason to Hate You.” We all have that special someone out there we would like to dedicate this song to. Well, now’s your chance! Next song “Tell You Like it is,” has a Southern Rock feel and reminds me a little of Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Overall, this entire CD is so catchy, the choruses and guitar riffs will get stuck in your head for days, but you won’t mind. By the time the beautiful and ballad-esque “Get Me through the Night” ends the CD; you will just want to start it over again on track 1. Again, and again… Gunfire76 start their nationwide tour, along with Bullets and Octane, on November 11th. Check their myspace page for dates. This is a show you will not want to miss!
