Twisted Sister - “Stay Hungry” 25th Anniversary Edition
CD Review
By Kim Thore
Some things just won’t go away and Dee Snider and Twisted Sister are two of them… with their shock tactics a la Alice Cooper, makeup by Clown College, USA and MTV imagery and heavy rotation Twisted Sister will go down in history, however with their recent 25th anniversary edition, it appears they won’t stay down. Surprisingly, it may not be such a bad thing. Who knew Long Island would be famous for a drink and infamous for a band.
If you’re looking for lyrical depth, musical prowess or life changing tunes… Twisted Sister isn’t your bag, but then to their credit they never claimed to be. Perhaps there’s a bit too much time capsule aspect in their “Stay Hungry” revisit but surprisingly, rock anthems like “Stay Hungry” and “I Wanna Rock” can still evoke a head bang or two despite the best attempts to prevent such approval.
You will stay hungry because Twisted Sister does not meet the recommended daily adult requirements for rock and metal but isn’t that kind of the point?
