I have been a fan of Steve Overland ever since his days in Wildlife. Then of course his classic work with FM and other projects like, The Ladder and Shadowland. Hot on the heels of “Break Away”, Steve’s debut solo album with Escape Music we are presented with “Diamond Dealer”, an album that bursts with fresh ideas and originality. What Steve brings to the table this time around is a more classic approach to what AOR music is, with great songs that have feeling and depth. Songs such as “Brave new world”, “I’m Still Breathing” and “Heart’s don’t lie”, "Bring Me Water" all hit the bulleye with maximum effect. They are sung from the heart and it is another testimony to the fact that Steve Overland is probably the most passionate vocalist that the UK has ever produced since Paul Rodgers. The proof is in the pudding and taking just one listen to 'Diamond Dealer', will be enough proof for you to go ga ga of this AOR gem. All in all, do whatever you have to do to get this album. Whether you are a die-hard Steve Overland fan like me or just somebody looking for some great new music. Maybe you are growing tired of much of the radio play going on today? Or maybe you have a great love for melodic rock that flourished during the 80's. Whatever your case, do yourself a favor and give Steve Overland's sophomore release a shot.
