Carousel Vertigo :: Carousel Vertigo (EP)
Vous...!
By The Atomic Chaser
This EP from the Paris-Based quartet Carousel Vertigo is a must for all lovers of 12 bar blues based rock music. There are only a handful of bands who can make a three chord song using a riff heard a million times before, sound fresh and exciting. Carousel Vertigo achieve this repeatedly on this album. The album kicks off with "Keep Your Hands to Yourself", a track originally recorded for the 'Keep the Faith' EP and the band's only hit single. The band is made up of, Vincent Martinez on Vocals/Guitar, Jansen Press on Guitar/Vocals, Thomas d'Arbigny on Bass/Vocals and Julien Audigier - Drums. What follows is track after track of loud simple rock and roll. Starting off with, "Get To You" from there on out it just gets better, with , "Last Call For Love", "Three Wishes" and a killer rendition of the blue classic, "Going Down". The exciting thing about this EP is it's just the tip of the iceberg. I for one can't wait to hear what they serve up with their full lenght debut release. In summary, this album is the ultimate straight ahead rock album with no hidden messages. A good old fashioned album from a truly great band. Do you Like AC/DC? Jackyl? Old School Rock? Supersuckers? Rhino Bucket?, Supagroup?you get points for even knowing who they are, Then you will like this. No processed guitars, no guitar acrobatics, just straight up super-charged guitar chord songs with amps cranked to 11. Hooky choruses, chunky riffs, and Angus inspired solos. How good is Carousel Vertigo? DAMN GOOD!
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
