The Pretenders

At the Star Of The Desert Arena- Primm Valley

Review and photos by Mark Buirge

The PretendersCloses your eyes and pretend you are listening to "Don't Get Me Wrong" or "Middle Of The Road" on the radio. The song is clear and you know every note and beat by heart. Now open your eyes and look up to see The Pretenders doing that at the Star of the Desert Arena in Primm Valley on Wednesday night. That's right note for note, sound to sound The Pretenders rock the Desert like you just heard them on the radio. Chrissie Hynde and the boys Martin Chambers, James Walbourne and Nick Wilkinson make up The Pretenders. Now if you haven't heard of James Walbourne then you need to pay attention to his new career with The Pretenders. He plays with is heart and soul on stage. "This man can play" and I have a feeling we are going to see a lot of James in the future. As for the show, it was small but it gave you a feeling of being in a night club without a bad seat in the house. The tour is coming to an end but if you miss The Pretenders this year, keep your eyes out and Maybe JUST maybe we will see them again.

Before I forget there was this other band "Juliette and the licks". You may know this lead singer from movies like Natural Born Killers and The Other Sister, BUT and when I say BUT there is a reason for this. This girl can ROCK and I mean ROCK. They will be playing a few shows around town and if you get a chance to see them DO IT, and then Thank Me for it later.
