Jolly :: Forty-Six Minutes, Twelve Seconds Of Music
Progrock Records
By The Atomic Chaser
JOLLY's stunning debut release 'Forty-Six Minutes, Twelve seconds of Music' is an album for those of you who appreciate amazing musicianship. Jolly is Anadale (guitars, vocals), Louis Abramson (drums), Joe Reilly (keys) and Mike Rudin (bass). I was hooked once I hit play, their music tends to be dark and dreamy. It's progressive but there are songs that could be right at home on the radio. Right from the opening track, "Escape From DS-3" to numbers like, "Downstream" and "Soltice" your senses are immediately teleported into audio ecstasy. Jolly is a progressive rock band whose blend of minor key melancholia and wall-of-sound euphoria works best as the soundtrack to late night lounging and contemplation. Maybe under blacklight. It's all about the songs for me, on "Forty-Six Minutes, Twelve seconds of Music", it has them in spades. I warn you now, this album is addicting. Alot of the time I listen to music while I'm doing something. But this is an album you can just sit there doing nothing and it will keep you interested. It's very mesmerizing, and believe me that’s a good thing. Lyrically it’s a strong and powerful album, very moody and dark. Get this album. It's a master-class recording in every sense of the word. More people need to hear this album, it's too good for people to not know about it. Yes I hear Floyd and Pain of Salvation and Porcupine Tree and Chroma Key and even Opeth but what I hear most is JOLLY.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
