Full Circle

CreedCreed brought their “Full Circle” tour to the Verizon Wireless- Virginia Beach Amphitheater on August 22, 2009 to an almost sold out crowd who lined up in the pouring rain to welcome them back.

After an official break-up in 2004, Scott Stapp went on to launch a solo career while the remaining members formed the band called “Alter Bridge”. Now, a few years later they have all reunited and have since recorded their new album titled, ‘Full Circle’ set to be released in October 2009.

The Virginia Beach Amphitheater’s stage began harkening itself to some sort of secret chamber including urns of fire, with the crowd growing in anticipation for the band to take the stage. Finally, with the stage lit in Creedeerie rays of green lights and a stationary gold column, they satisfied the crowd and Creed opened with their song “Ode” from the bands album titled, “My Own Prison”. Following it up with the title track “My Own Prison” and “Say I” during which the big screen on stage had flames dancing to Stapp’s voice with lightning bolts flashing to the guitar stylings of Mark Tremonti and Brian Marshall.

Creed sounded great, and the band really in sync with each other on stage. Creed had picked up right where they left off as far as the quality of the music is concerned. Scott Stapp’s voice sounded very strong and clear without losing the rough, grunge edge. The riffs put off by Mark Tremonti were fantastic, all glued together with hair flying, hard hitting bass stylings of Brian Marshall, and polished off with the heart pounding drums played by Scott Phillips.Creed

They went on to play “Never Die” and “What If”, afterwards giving Mark Tremonti the stage for a brilliant guitar solo. After the rest of the band rejoined him on stage and Stapp looking out at the endlessly applauding crowd and saying “this is so cool”.

Creed followed that up with “Unforgiven” and once again they turned Creedthe controls over to Scott Phillips and his masterful drum solo on his Gibraltar drums.

During the show I thought to myself, even after such a long hiatus. It must be the greatest feeling for Creed to see that their fans still know every word to their songs. At times you could see the look on the bands faces, like they almost seemed to be surprised, amazed, or even humbled when they look out from the stage to see and hear that from the crowd during the show.

They rounded everything off with “What’s This Life For”, and debuted their new single from the “Full Circle” album titled “Overcome”. The a few others including “Faceless Man”, “Arms CreedWide Open”, and “My Sacrifice” to which Scott Stapp, Mark Tremonti, and Scott Phillips all lined up on stage together for the crowd and after, the stage goes dark, and the “Creed” emblem shows up on the big screen. A few minutes of constant applause, whistling, and the crowd not going anywhere, they came back for their encore featuring “One”, “6 Feet From the Edge”, and “Higher”. Then Creed came together at the end making one simple statement “We Are Creed”!

They definitely gave the crowd what they came for and more. They filled the heavy, humid night air with their hard rocking, aggressive songs from the past and every minute, every word, every note was gobbled up by audience and by debuting their new single they let them know they still have what it takes to continue the journey once again.
