Keeley Valentino

at Genghis Cohen

By Jackson Jones

In the quaint little performance room at the Genghis Cohen this past Saturday night, up-and-coming pop/country singer Keeley Valentino put on a solid acoustic performance. Her homely stage presence complemented her subtly commanding voice nicely, and it felt like a night around the campfire.

Most songs were lyrically somber, but lively in mood and performance. She even joked once about “finally doing a happy song”, which happened to be played quietly. She played an oldie for her most dedicated fans, and there were quite a few there.

The most impressive thing about Keeley is her voice and how in instantly draws your attention. There were two friends sitting in front who I could tell had never seen Keeley, and they nodded at each other in approval. She has the ability to reach and take hold of a much larger venue than I was at tonight.

I sense a bright future for Keeley. She’s a talented musician with an attitude that’s both confident and honest. I look forward to hearing her in front of a full band in anticipation of a lot of energy and excitement. www.KeeleyValentino.com
