A Daisy plants herself in LA…

Daisy De La Hoya

Interview and photos by Heidi Horvath

Daisy De La HoyaAfter having the pleasure of talking with Daisy De La Hoya, one realizes what a down to earth, sharp, focused, cool girl she really is. Daisy is not only beautiful but also photographs like a dream! I have had the pleasure of being able to photograph her a few months ago when she was a guest on Focus in the Mix with Denise Ames TV show. She is a kind, nice person with a huge passionate heart. Not to mention adorable, curvy, and extremely hot and sexy!

After her crazy journey on VH1’s Rock of Love 2, life has been full and interesting for Daisy. Although her tenure on Rock of Love 2 - with Bret Michaels was a painful one, she feels it was a great experience, and is certainly grateful for it, and the opportunities it has landed her.

Hailing from Southern California and Denver, Co., Daisy is now firmly planted in Los Angeles, and starring in her own reality show airing right now, on VH1 called Daisy of Love. The show is a spin off from Rock of Love, and has Daisy picking a man Daisy De La Hoyafrom a group of 20 suitors. The shows first episode just aired, and it looks like it’s going to be an action packed season, with the guys going to extremes for her attention. I can’t wait for the next episodes just to see what happens! Since the conversation had turned to men, I asked her about what type of guy turns her on, and to describe him. She answered, “I like the rock star type, bad boy, outside the box type of guy. The rebel with a bit of eyeliner, that really does it for me!”

When I asked Daisy if she stays in touch with any of the girls from Rock of Love, she said that Brandi M., Jessica, Lacey and a few others are actually in her VH1 show Daisy of Love. I didn’t dare ask her about Heather.

Daisy De La HoyaFocusing on her career at the moment, Daisy is now extremely busy with traveling and getting ready to release her first single “Suck it!” She plays bass and rhythm guitar, and sings! She is also designing her own clothing line which she is calling Beautiful Disaster. Modeling and Acting is also a passion. All the while working on a book as well! She has plans to leave a mark as a pop culture icon. I think she is well on her way!

I asked her what 5 words she would use to describe herself. She said; “passionate, driven, crazy, kooky and determined!” After meeting her, shooting her, and talking with her on a few occasions… I would definitely have to agree.

With all her travels she has realized that she loves New York as one of her favorite places she has visited, “because it’s artistic and gritty with so much to offer!” she said.

I also had the chance to ask her, what she thought people would feel most surprised learning about her. Her answer, “I love musicals!” One may never have guessed that one.

Daisy, I have found to be so interesting, and charismatic. She’s a bit of everything naughty and nice, sexy and sharp, tiny but mighty, with a lot of talent wrapped up in a beautiful petite package that just oozes sex appeal!

Daisy De La HoyaAlthough still young by any standard, Daisy feels she has learned a lot about herself in the past few years. Especially that she knows herself more than ever. She also has realized that when she is told NO, it makes her work that much harder at achieving her goals. No plans of settling down anytime soon, or perhaps at all! Daisy is focused on herself and her career at the moment, which is in full swing. So why should she settle down? You go girl! She is NOW and here to STAY. This is certain.

Most definitely keep a look out for more of Daisy on VH1’s Daisy of Love! You can also keep up with her on myspace.com/daisyrocksmusic

I do want to thank her for taking time out of her busy schedule to talk with me and let me take some great photos. Daisy De La Hoya, You are the coolest!
