Jet Leg Gemini :: Fire The Cannons
CD Review
By Natalie Perez
“Run This City," is the lead and opener to Jet Leg Gemini the new pop rock and punk act blowing every city they invade to pieces with their latest Doghouse release “Fire The Cannons," each cannonball aiming straight for your head grabbing your attention in an instant. The 11-tracks pull you in, like a warm blanket which is exactly what we’re dealing with, when it comes to the fiery depths that is “Fire The Cannons.” “Doctor, Please!” is a bit more focused and panders to the sing-along crowd. The drum work is on Fire the Cannons are surprisingly sharp. It doesn't dominate any particular track, instead leaving that job to the unexpectedly unique and often warbling riffs, but the drumming fantastically complements the music. A perfect example would be on both “Bad Apples,” and “Bittersweet,” the latter which will be a popular track. Two dazzling intros on “Fit to Be Tied,” and “Just Say How,” secure their place as standout songs on this very surprising disc, as well. One other tune that sticks out like a sore thumb has to be “Keep This with You,” a true ballad offered on this album that acknowledges the essence of what the band is trying to do. The music is mellow and easily goes with the flow as the rest of the album had a more upbeat and catchy side to it, this ballad just throws the rest of the edger material aside. All in all Jet Leg Gemini’s “Fire The Cannons,” is indeed fired upon will at its listeners and shall continue to fire until it has hit the many ear drums it seeks vengeance upon. Fans of Rooney and Jet should fall into place allowing this era of pop rock with mixture of punk to take flight not letting itself fade away from the music scene just yet.
