Green River Ordinance :: Out Of My Hands
Virgin Records
By The Atomic Chaser
Green River Ordinance's "Out Of My Hands" is a masterful debut album. The band is made up of, Joshua Wilkerson on vocals, acoustic guitar and piano, Josh Jenkins on electric guitar and backing vocals, Jamey Ice on guitar, Geoff Ice on bass and background vocals, and on drums, Denton Hunker. The album's opening song "Outside" sets the tone for the entire album, fantastic lyrical story-telling songs accompanied by simple, yet well rounded rock and roll instrumentation. A blend of power-pop that, while changing often in tempo and timbre, never sounds anything less than pristine, dynamic, ready for radio, smart, and uniquely Green River Ordinance. Songs like "Out Of My Hands" build in intensity as the track progresses and the instrumentation and harmonizing builds to an anxious crescendo. By the end of the album, you are out of breath, probably in no small part because you've been singing along to most of the tunes while listening to this CD in your car while stuck in traffic. The great thing about this album is that the lyrics are so simple and most of them relate to everyday life. But what is better than that is that you can actually understand them. However what makes this album so great is all the emotion that is poured into each track by the entire band. This is an amazing new band!! The buzz is building for the Green River Ordinance so if you are considering this CD, don't hesitate. It will soon become one of your favorites! If you like great songwriting, great singing, melodic harmony, and guitar-driven rock-n-roll, I highly highly highly recommend this CD.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
