Amy Heffernan

At Molly Malones

By Jackson Jones

Tuesday nights at Molly Malone’s are a lot more tranquil that the weekend madness, but that doesn’t mean the quality of music drops like those last few morsels of Guinness in my pint glass. This Tuesday night, Amy Heffernan rocked the small, but dedicated, fan base that came out to support their favorite up-and-coming indie artist.

Amy displayed a nice mix of solemn songs and rock ditties and even delved into a Lady Ga-Ga cover “Just Dance”. The highlight of the show was the song “Here with Me”, which I imagine will be her break out single in the near future.

One of Amy’s best qualities is her jovial stage presence. She makes her audience feel part of her experience with wit and emotion. She jokingly explained about the embarrassment of writing her first love song “I Do”, with her first crush and brother, both who play in her band. She’s able to joke between songs and make her fans feel like they’re having a beer with her on a Saturday afternoon, then flip the switch and immerse herself in the depths of somber tune.

All in all I was impressed with Amy Heffernan’s performance and won’t be surprised when she’s a known commodity in the rock world.
