The Host of the TV show “Focus in the Mix with Denise Ames” gives All Access Magazine a glance at the rock star side of things going on during Saturday’s NAMM day and night festivities. Along with co-correspondent Sheila Lussier, Ames filmed for the weekly series’ upcoming double episode coverage airing on Charter and Time Warner cable systems throughout Southern California.
RUDY SARZO took time out of his
immensely busy schedule signing at various booths throughout the day to grant the TV show an exclusive on camera interview on what’s new in his heavy metal world. The Ozzy / Quiet Riot / Whitesnake / Dio / Blue Oyster Cult bassist recently participated in the much-talked about Monster Circus live concert that took place in Vegas recently. Other rock stars that appeared on stage at the Las Vegas Hilton that night included Bruce Kulick (Kiss), Tony Montana (Great White) and special guest Dee Snider of Twisted Sister. Sarzo (pictured), who is also the
author of “Off the Rails: Aboard the Crazy Train” about time spent with his late friend Randy Rhoads, says he’s hoping for more Monster Circus shows in the future.
And speaking of Twisted Sister, EDDIE OJEDA (pictured) announced he and fellow TS member Snider are currently writing together. During his interview he gave his take on his experiences while on set during Twister Sister’s hugely popular music videos “I Wanna Rock” and “We’re Not Gonna Take It”. He even did his impression of the famous line “What do you wanna do with your life?” made
famous being shouted by actor Mark Metcalf (of ‘Animal House’ fame) in both videos.
Known around Hollywood as the Sunset Triplets, the boys from Sweden KELII, IZZY and ROCK SWEDE along with drummer OSKAR SIRIKES filled in the TV show about their plans for the future as Snake of Eden (pictured with Sarzo and Ames). KERI KELLI (pictured with Lussier) spoke about his days playing with Alice Cooper and what he’s up to next. Capitol Records
executive Paula Salvatore spoke of what her job as Senior Director & Manager entails and her excitement as a spectator at NAMM. The Knack’s PRESCOTT NILES, The Cured (tribute band to The Cure), XYZ’s TERRY ILOUS, Rod Stewart’s KATJA RIECKERMANN, CHAD STEWART of Faster Pussycat and more all granted “Focus in the Mix with Denise Ames” interviews while at NAMM.
Hollywood’s version of NAMM night got under way at the Whisky on the Sunset Strip and featured L.A. GUNS (pictured) celebrating the 20th anniversary of their million+ seller Cocked & Loaded. PHIL LEWIS and STEVE RILEY along with the
‘Bookends’ STACEY BLADES and SCOTTY GRIFFIN all gave backstage interviews to the TV show. Also on hand: surprise guest and Vh1’s Rock of Love II Winner AMBRE LAKE, who emceed the night’s big event.
The NAMM episodes also include a sneak peek of the TV pilot ‘Double or Nutin’ by Stewart Brodian. These “Focus in the Mix with Denise Ames” sponsors make the TV show possible: Colombo’s Italian Restaurant & Nightclub, Vendome
Wine & Spirits, the rock band Feisty Piranhas, Kangen Water and All Access Magazine.
The two-episode coverage begins airing March 6th Friday at 7:30pm on Channels 16 & 289 on Charter Digital cable systems with part 2 beginning on 3/13. Both episodes will also be on Charter’s Video On Demand (-> ‘Community Interest’-> ’Talk Shows’) and Time Warner’s On Demand (->Find It On Demand-> Arts & Ent.-> Focus in the Mix). You can catch current episodes airing now on these television outlets throughout Southern California.
