Honeymoon Suite :: Clifton Hill
Frontier Records
By The Atomic Chaser
I have to say, 'Clifton Hill' the latest release from one of the finest rock band to come out of Canada, Honeymoon Suite, was a nice surprise. Produced by Tom Treumuth (who produced the debut album). Named after the Niagara Falls, on location where the band was formed 25 years ago. Good selection of new tunes, with a nice blend of melodic rock, with a slightly heavier sound. It works really well. The opening, "She Ain't Alright" is a gem of a AOR mover that definitely sets the tone of the rocking that awaits you. Johnnie Dee's vocals sound better than ever and as for Derry Grehan's guitar work, wow! For those who thought the hiatus might have affected his playing, Derry lays all those rumours to rest. He gets his rocks off on this one. As is evident on, "Tired Of Waitin" and the guitar driven, "Riffola". Come on with a title like that you know it’s going to blow your mind. 'Clifton Hill', is great. It has something for everyone from rock hits, a ballad, and strong, emotional melodies. Ray Coburn brings back that burning keyboard/organ sound that only he can do. The production is crisp and clear. It's classic HMS for those hard-core fans. An essential AOR masterpiece. There is not a bad song or filler on this cd. Please be advised that Honeymoon Suite is STILL IN BUSINESS!
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
