Daybreak Ends :: The Self Unseen
CD Review
By Natalie Perez
"Just close your eyes, and realize that this is your fate," quoted directly from Daybreak Ends latest addition off their latest installment of their newest EP entitled "The Self Unseen." A beast unlike any other witnessed before; that no tamer could possibly withstand against; except possibly one which is you the listener. Starting off this heavy edition is "All Gemini Die Young," which was quoted beforehand bringing some intensity that will send absolute shivers and chills running up and down your backside. Keeping the chills enacted is bone-chiller "Vehicular Promicide," which throws you directly into the vocalist’s perspective as he sings out each lyric loud and clear; the guitars and drums backing him up inside and out playing some retro/techno riffs with drumming beats that sends echoes throughout your eardrums. This leaves a ringing in our ears bringing us back to reality and back to the bands previous works “Perfect Tragedy,” and their tune “Lost Lament,” sounding a lot like “Before I Drowned.” The vocals having a more brutalizing insanity having more screaming and shouting skills that “Perfect Tragedy,” can’t even compare too now. “Hope Like Water,” discusses the distressful risks and the overflow of drowning in a pool of over rushing water just as “Before I Drowned,” contained dealing with the tragedy of losing something you once held dear. But the rush of water running wild and freely throughout the tune keeps the music impacted with high racing energy the music just running in and out going faster and faster with every second played. Each track offered on this EP expresses yourself as you may not have seen yourself before making you realize the tragedy that was once in your life and you could easily change. Overall Daybreak End’s “The Self Unseen,” is an intense water ride just wanting to devour you in its watery goodness getting you drenched head to toe with nothing but pure hard rocking heavy metal entertainment.
