Starbreaker :: Love's Dying Wish
Frontier Records
By The Atomic Chaser
Starbreaker's sophomore release, 'Love's Dying Wish' is powered along by the powerful vocals of Tony Harnell, of whom, alongside guitarist Magnus Karlsson, bring out the best of their musical union like on the title track, that has a nice piano intro which leads to a near climatic start with riffs and of course the stellar vocals of Tony keeping on point with, "End Alone", "Hide" and "Live Your Life". New bassist Jonni Lightfoot has been added to the lineup, adding a tasteful but aggressive touch and complimenting Macaluso's flashy drumming perfectly. This is a first-class melodic hard rock album. The songs are catchy and have plenty of hooks, but Harnell's vocals really steal the show. Harnell's vocals sound better than ever. 'Love's Dying Wish' is an amazing recording that progresses from where the Starbreaker debut left off. With a fresh diversity that spans from pounding Metal, to deep moody passages wrapped in a dark and beautifully melodic package. Strong second outing from start to finish, and should be counted among the best releases of 2008. Starbreaker should appeal to fans of melodic hard rock bands like Pink Cream 69 and of course TNT, and fans of melodic progressive metal. The world needs quality rock acts like Starbreaker.
