Imperial Vipers :: Broken
Eminence Records
By The Atomic Chaser
Formed in Dunstable, England in 2003, Imperial Vipers provide unashamedly honest punk-rock that is gritty, raw and goes for the throat. Everything that rock should be without sounding stale or tired. The band's debut release, "Searching: Falling:Silence" established the Imperial Vipers as one of the more exciting underground UK rock acts on the current scene. Critical acclaim and constant touring have seen the band build a fan base and expectation for their follow up album. The Imperial Vipers are, Ash Simmons on vocals, Wevs on guitars, Corky on guitars, Andrew Weatherall on bass and Scott Cowell on the skins. The band's new album 'Broken' was produced by the legendary Steve Power whose work with the likes of bands like, Blur, Feeder and Bon Jovi. Imperial Vipers are definitely a rock band to look out for. With music press comparing them to bands such as Free, Guns n Roses and MC5, they have a lot to live up to, but they certainly manage to do this with this release. From the opening mover, "The Sickness" and the rock and roll swagger of tracks like, "Victim", "Self Medication" and the hypnotic groove of, "Broken" to the closing track "Love's Fortune", there is not one weak track on this album. The Imperial Vipers give it their all in their music, which makes you jump around like in the good old days, when listening to an old vinyl collection. Songs that'll stick in your head after the first listen, ball-busting guitars that'll give you the best-sounding enema you've ever had. Also features excellent production. The sound is crisp and clear on headphones, and will sound just as great blasted full volume in your car with all the windows down (as this album begs to be cranked). 'Broken' is one of those records I feel crosses all boundaries in the world of rock music. Like other hard rocking Brits that came before them, The Imperial Vipers know the power of a good riff, and this album is chock full. This band is amazing. Take the best from the Nomads, Hanoi Rocks, and Stooges with a touch of Motorhead and the Sex Pistols and you get the Imperial Vipers. The band has previously played with the likes of Bloc Party, Supergrass, Editors, Towers Of London, Dogs D'Amour, Ginger & The Sonic Circus, Hanoi Rocks and We Are Scientists. The Imperial Vipers are damn good and going to be huge!
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
