Where will Cheryl show up Next?

By Christi Broekemeier

Cheryl Mac NealOk, so yours truly may be a bit blind and pre-occupied with my family and writing oh and a life and I have even been called an air head a few times. But a friend asked me to add Cheryl to my friends, and I rarely turn anyone down, so I did. I thought I read that Cheryl was the hostess of VH1’s Reunion Shows. I watch them all the time! It turns out when I contacted her she was not; opps! What she is can only be described as a lovely Hollywood coincidence. Just being put on TV with her great body and tummy airbrushed for every VH1 reunion show; this 42 year old is overshadowing some of the actual cast-mates during the reunions and becoming a celebrity, in her own right. It is like Roulette, all luck and being in the right place at the right time; which Cheryl has been.

Cheryl she is known and noticed for the hard body and faithful appearances at each reunion show. Garnering her more and more screen time, do you remember the supposed myth of how Lana Turner was discovered at a drug store soda counter and became a star? If not; this may be the modern day version. Where will Cheryl show up next? That is indeed the question, which even she isn’t sure about. But the ride is fun! Learn more about on My Space you can find her by searching at Cheryl VH1, before all this; she used private information which she learned quickly was a bad idea.

AAM: I initially thought you worked for Vh1; however that is not the case. You are now becoming a VH1 fixture just from being in the reality shows they put on audience. How surprised are you that you are becoming famous from sitting in the audience with your stomach airbrushed, and your beauty on display?

CM: It’s funny you thought that! You must be a bit blind. No I was just going to the reunion shows for fun. Then I started airbrushing my stomach for “Rock of Love” with that great logo. The camera panned to me, and suddenly I became known as the lady with abs who airbrushes her tummy. It is just fun. Now I am an unpaid audience member. What is just mind blowing, is people know me. They stop me in the streets. I never in a million years thought anything would happen. But I guess I am becoming a mini-celebrity. For as long as it lasts I am going to enjoy it. If it ends, I have my personal training business to keep alive and thriving.

AAM: You are a very beautiful woman. Unlike many of the young women who show up on many of these shows which include “Rock of Love” and “Flavor of Love”, you are over 40. What is it that you think you have to offer for example Bret if you went on the show that a younger woman can’t? Also you kid that you’re a cougar, what does that mean?

CM: I offer understanding, wisdom, love, compatibility. For me being older is just more life lessons learned and to grow and keep growing. The term was actually presented to me as a compliment along with MILF (Figure it out yourself, I can’t print that). It means Cheryl Mac Nealthat I am in a group of women, alongside Demi Moore and many others who are 40 and over, and still smokin’ hot!! Also, A million % yes!! Oh we all know that “40 IS the new 20!!” as well. Age has been re-defined.

AAM: Before you started gaining all the attention for being part of the reunion shows, what did you do and what is it you do now, besides becoming famous?

CM: Before the shows, I was a personal trainer/ nutritionist, and I also volunteer 3 days a week for and animal rescue group. I was just awarded Humanitarian of the Year for 2008! Growing up I was a model and beauty pageant winner.

AAM: In many ways, VH1 has taken notice of the fact that you are building a fan-base and recognizable face. Is there anything planned for you down the pipeline for you that you can talk about?

CM: Nothing, specific or that I can talk about right now. I will just keep showing up at the reunion shows, lol.

AAM: Several people in the VH1 organization have taken notice of you, and taken you under your wing. You have learned a lot about how they film these shows; build the women’s or men’s (I Love New York) character. Can you briefly tell us what the process is once the show is filmed and hit’s the editing room?

CM: I have not been in the editing room. I see the 8-10 hours during the reunion shows that are whittled down to a 42-46 minute show, but I get to see all of it!

AAM: You have been able to meet people that you otherwise wouldn’t have met and have been doing things including giving interviews rather regularly, how much is this changing your life (talk about getting recognized here too)?

CM: My life has changed immensely. I’m not even close to being A-list, and it’s still crazy! My days are literally scheduled out for me. Random people on the street will see me and come up to me and say, “Are you the girl on the _______ reunion show?” After I tell them I am, they’ll say, “I can’t wait for the next reunion show so I can see you!” It’s happening so fast!!

AAM: has there been any talk between you and VH1/Viacom in regards to either being on a reality show or having one of your own?

CM: I auditioned for Rock or Love 3, but anything else I can’t discuss or don’t know.

Cheryl Mac NealAAM: Is there anything specific planned for you and what do you think is powering your automatic fame as well?

CM: Not yet, but that is what I really want!! I already have a concept and a large market base for ratings! It is very much like the “Howard Stern” phenomenon. Intelligent people listened to him because he was live. The people who hated him listened twice as much! Why? Because they wanted to hear what he was going to say next!!

AAM: What we see and what the person is really like on one of these shows can be two different things, do you know why?

CM: It’s what the show’s producer wants you to see. I think it’s all in the editing. It’s like politics and society… the news edits it the way they want you to receive it.

AAM: What does the phrase “Girl Power” makes you think about?

CM: It means empowering women with and through other women. If I see or meet a beautiful, intelligent, strong woman that I connect with; then I “always” let them how I feel and I am proud to have women like them in my circle. I surround myself with intelligent, beautiful, loyal strong women.
