ShwayzeJust a 22 year-old kid from a Malibu trailer park, Shwayze is doing big things. From an impromptu on-stage freestyle with a friend, Alex Orbison, to a local gig by Orbison's band Whitestarr, Shwayze impressed Cisco Adler, Whitestarr's singer/songwriter, enough to start collaborating with him. With Shwayze co-writing the songs with Adler producing, what he calls- 'California chill stoner music', the duo came up a melodic groove reminiscent of Sublime. As Shwayze boasts, “It’s a new West Coast sound, it’s California chill, West Coast stoner music.” Their sound seemed to impress Jordan Schur, president of Geffen Records that the duo got signed in 2007 and the debut album was released in 2008. Before the release of the self-titled album 'Shwayze', the summer feel-good smash hit "Buzzin" and the follow up "Corona and Lime" along with their MTV reality- show "Buzzin" were released. The self- titlted album sold almost 47,000 albums the first week to debut at #10 on the Billboard Music Charts! The new album also debuted at #2 on Billboard's Digital Albums Chart. Their 2008 Vans Warped Tour stint just ended, but that's just the beginning for this duo. Shwayze will be heading out on tour this October and November with Metro Statio, Tyga and Cash Cash!Shwayze

So how is the last day of Warped Tour?

Shawyze: Amazing! It's sad that it's actually here.

Cisco: It's a bittersweet symphony.

Shwayze: This is our first tour together so it has definitely prepared me for the next tour.

Cisco: He's got his two legs now. I think we as a group are now gelled like a live act, so we can play everywhere just have a mic set up.

How was the response on your first national tour?

Cisco: We got to see that we have fans in crazy places. Like tons of 'em.

You guys are definitely spreading the word on Shwayze.

Shwayze: Spreading the love, spreading the word about Shwayze and the word of peace.

Cisco: The word of change.

Cisco: That's 3 words- Shwayze, Peace and Change.

Shwayze: That's going to be the motto. They're going to be- "Shwayze, Peace, you need to change. Peace out I'm leaving!"

Do you guys think that your MTV show "Buzzin" has helped get the word out?

ShwayzeCisco: The music has spread on its own for a long time, and that's what is cool. This is really about the music, not about the show, but the tv show has widened the audience. We've been pushing it a long time in California though. It's cool to come home and see all of our Cali fans because they own it; it's theirs you know what i mean.

How was the beginning of Warped Tour was different from the ending?

Shwayze: We were playing early in the day.

Cisco: It's way crazier now.

Shwayze: With the song coming out, the singles, the radio, there's a big video on YouTube, also on MTV along with TRL.

Cisco: Everything getting hit at once.

You guys are hitting it every way possible- tv, radio, internet.

Cisco: You know what, but we are also doing it by word of mouth. We're actually doing it by being real. We are just 2 dudes making music about how we live and it's obviously hitting a core with kids that are living the same way. It's good to lookout cause they're good kids with a not so bad future.

What's the vibe of the cd?

Shwayze: We made it while we were having fun. It's about life, love, women and weed. The good things in life, and the sad things in life like broken hearts, and everything that we're going through.

Any plans after Warped Tour?Shwayze

Shwayze: We are going on tour with Tyga and Metro Station. That's about everything for right now, but keep an ear out on the myspace.

Any last words to fans?

To the fans we love you. The record comes out Tuesday August 19th. Please go get it because people have all the music, but they really have all the demos. We kind of went in and juiced up the record and made a real album, so I think they will be excited once they get that.

Shwayze's Self Titled Album is out in stores now.
