Review and Photos by Stephen Gibson

PoisonLadies and Gentlemen of Richmond Virginia we would like to welcome you to the Snagajob.com Pavilion and we want to know one thing. ARE YOU READY, I said ARE YOU READY? Are you ready FOR ACTION TONIGHT? Coming to the stage please put your hands in the air and welcome, POISON…

Put together a sold out crowd of ladies and gentleman and kids of all ages wearing t-shirts, bandannas, cowboy and cowgirl hats, machine gun bullet belts, and a huge pink Hummer parked in the parking lot, along with green laser lights flashing on the stage before the concert even began and you have yourself one hell of a concert Poisonwhen you arrived at the Snagajob.com pavilion in Glen Allen Virginia on Wednesday August 13, 2008.

When Rikki Rocket started the show off his with pulse pounding, shirt ripping beat of his drums you knew this was going to be one night everyone would never forget.

Along comes C.C. DeVille with his signature blue flamed guitar ripping the hats off the 7000 members of the crowd as well as Bret Michaels on the microphone and Bobby Dall on guitar welcome everyone to the show and asked them the same question one more time. RICHMOND Virginia Are you ready for action tonight? At that point and even before the show everyone was already on their feet screaming “We want Poison,” “We want Poison”; well they definitely got Poison all night long.

PoisonBy about the 4th song right after their classic tune “Your Momma Don’t Dance”, C.C. DeVille did a spine tingling solo of “Amazing Grace” that you could hear in the parking lot and it still sent shivers up and down your spine.

Bret and C.C. definitely demand a dominant presence on stage, as so does Rikki and Bobby, they still riff through the guitars, kill the drum set, blow the harmonica as well as at one point even getting about 20 or more feet in the air on top of the speakers to make sure the crowd knew they came here to provide them with their love for the music as well as getting in front of their faces to show their love and appreciation for the fans.

Throughout the night they sang such well known songs such as “Unskinny Bop”, where Bret pulled out the Caracas and started banging them so hard you could feel it through the sound of the speakers and Poisoneveryone was still standing on their feet pounding their fists in the air singing to every word, as well as “Talk Dirty To Me”, among many others as well some new songs from the newly released CD entitled “Live, Raw & Uncut which debuted at #8 on Billboard’s Top Music Video Chart.

At one point in the show Bret wanted to send a Personal Thanks to all the fans that not only showed up for “One Hell of a night of music” but also to all the fans that watched “Rock of Love” on VH1, where he also mentioned the new “Rock of Love 3” to be airing soon.

After that they went into their Monster Ballad “Every Rose has its thorn”, that according to Bret was “Wrote in a Laundromat in Dallas, Texas”. Near the end of the song Bret stated this was the Grand Finale to “Every Rose that he was playing on his first $12.50 guitar his father bought him and later “Bitched about”, then Bret looked towards the moonlight sky and said “THANK YOU DAD”.

PoisonTo end the show, they played “Talk Dirty To Me” to which everyone in the crowd was still standing, fists pumping in the air, beach balls flying all through the thousands in attendance singing to every word and you knew that every member of the band appreciated them coming out to see them when Bret came on stage afterward and said “Thank you Richmond, Virginia we love you and GOOD NIGHT.

After the show I had the pleasure of speaking to J.T. Willis of Chester, Virginia who simply stated it was one AWESOME show and she loved Poison, I also had the opportunity to speak to Carrie Leone of Midlothian and her friend Elizabeth from Richmond who was celebrating her 34th Birthday and they only had 4 simple things to say, “AWESOME”, “FANTASTIC”, “WE LOVE POISON”, and most of all “WE LOVE YOU C.C.”.
