Jonas Brothers @ The Honda Center

Live Review

Jonas BrothersApparently July 13th wasn’t a school night. At least that’s how they spun it for the filming of the Jonas Brothers 3D Movie (untitled as of yet) which was being filmed at the Honda Center in Anaheim.

Skinny Jeans and glow sticks galore filled the house to a sold out crowd of 18,000 plus. The ‘Burning Up’ tour rocketed off, on not surprisingly July 4th and made its way into sunny So. Cal not long after.

I sat down and soaked up the ear deafening screams as the ‘Jo Bros’ took to stage and opened with the upbeat and catchy “That’s Just the Way We Roll.” (from their self-titled debut album).

I have to admit the acrobats Joe and Kevin pulled out of their pocket were definitely unexpected and a nice treat as they worked the crowd into a frenzy. “Shelf”, “Hold On”, and “BB Good” were next on the set list and the audience eagerly sang along to each tune with hands raised in the air and towards the stage hoping to just touch fingertips with one of these swoon-worthy heartthrobs.

Proving they are worthy entertainers (and amply talented musicians as well) later in the set Nick Jonas had a drum off with their touring drummer while giving his brothers a short breather. He also took time later in the show to share his story and struggle of having diabetes during the bridge of a lofty new ballad titled “A Little Bit Longer.”

Mid set the brothers welcomed Demi Lovato to stage (who was greeted with eager enthusiasm from the crowd) and she belted out a couple lively songs including the duet Jonas Brotherswith Joe Jonas “This is Me” and her single from the Camp Rock Soundtrack “Who Will I Be.”

The Jonas Brothers took total control of the stage for their 90 plus minute set, which was a site to behold. This was a top of the line production with everything from laser lights, confetti canyons and Pyro blasts at precision moments. (Hey they don’t call it the ‘Burning up Tour’ for nothing) Oh, I can’t forget to mention the magnificent string section JB had along for the majority of their show. Breathtaking indeed.

Other notable highlights included the band’s cover of “Gonna Getcha Good” By Shaina Twain, the acoustic song “I Need to Find You” (again from Camp Rock) and new tracks, “Pushin Me Away”, “Play My Music” and the first single release “Burnin’ Up ( from new CD “A Little Bit Longer-Available Aug 12th) which touted an appearance from Big Rob.

As the evening came to a close, I didn’t want to go home. The enthusiasm that filled the venue was contagious and Jonas Brothers impressed me greatly. The Encore performed was “When You Look Me In the Eyes”/”S.O.S. from the bands Self Titled release, but not met with any less excitement than the rest of the show, as a matter of fact, I think it’s fair to say JoBros have a fan for life in this writer. A++
