Formed in 2000, The Grumpy came to life as an effort to change the face of music. The band is truly impossible to classify as a specific genre, but have accepted the term rock as a fair and general description of what this group does. Led by multi-instrumentalist / composer / performer / teacher Cameron, the band consistently displays versatility, while balancing the technical playing of virtuoso - like guitar with soulful, meaningful performance of the traveled bluesman. The rhythm section is filled out by J. W. Brooks on percussion and Jake Ferguson on bass. The Grumpy’s sound has been compared to such acts as Rush, Nickelback, Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble, and Pink Floyd, along with a host of others, while still maintaining a sound all their own.

During 2006 The Grumpy began an assault on the Sunset Strip in Hollywood, playing venues such as the world famous Whisky A Go-Go and the Roxy Theater, on the same stages where bands such as The Doors, Ozzy Osbourne and Van Halen have performed, along with countless other legends. Their jaw-dropping debut appearance in Hollywood landed The Grumpy a “Rock Band of the Year" nomination in the South Bay Music Awards that year. Immediately following the return to Sacramento, The Grumpy was selected as KRXQ 98 Rock's "February Artist of the Month" for both their fresh sound and work with the U. C. Davis Children's Hospital fundraiser. The Grumpy has performed with national acts such as Stephen Percy (Ratt), Frank Hannon (Tesla), and The Hollywood All-Stars (members from Dio, Bonham, Quiet Riot, and Dokken). Currently, The Grumpy endorses Mesa-Boogie Amplifiers and Minarik Guitars, helping shape the inspiring sound of this group.

The Grumpy has just finished their second independent release and is once again nominated in four categories at the 2008 South Bay Music Awards. The band is in rotation on KRXQ 98 Rock's "Local Licks" show, with a tour being planned. Indeed, The Grumpy is well on their way to realizing their life’s dream.
