My Brightest Diamond :: A Thousand Shark’s Teeth
Asthmatic Kitty
By Lisa M. Knapp
After a slow evolvement and after 6 years of fine tuning and refining Shara Worden finally finishes her second album. The new record, A Thousand Sharks Teeth, is released on June 17, 2008. This record has an assortment of melodies, sounds, and vocal arrangements that display Worden’s attention to detail and picky nature. Inspired by artists such as Tricky, and Tom Waites, Worden gives her music a special touch that displays her excellence. The music is a vision of her personality. Her dynamic vocals mixed with the melodic down tones of the string instruments, and the metallic swirls that lead the listener into a daze. The themes in the songs touch the intimacy of each story from doing chores around the house, to kissing, to lost friends and so much more. Her brilliant usage of a variety of instruments from guitar, to harps, to strings, French horns, xylophones, and so much more, make her music come to life. The genre type would have to be categorized as trip hop or subtle pop. Simply put, it’s beautiful and not much more can be said about it.
