Empire :: Chasing Shadows
Locomotive Records
By The Atomic Chaser
Locomotive Records continues to release quality material and Empire's 'Chasing Shadows' is highly recommended to fans of Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Whitesnake, as well as other quality 80's rock bands. This is their first album to feature Doogie White (ex- "Rainbow", "Yngwie Malmsteen") on vocals alongside stable members Mike "Terrana" (ex- "Yngwie Malmsteen", ex- "Rage", "Masterplan") on drums and classic bassist Neil Murray (ex- "Whitesnake", ex- "Black Sabbath"). Empire’ s music is designed by guitarist Rolf Munkes who knows exactly what the band should sound like. Neo- classical hard rock, melodic in the vein of middle time Rainbow. Hard rocking guitars, heartbreaking, epic vocals, are all here. 'Chasing Shadows' is full of good songs. When you compare this with other of Doogie’s recent releases, with Malmsteen, Rainbow or Cornerstone. Featuring the biggest choruses Doogie White has ever sung on a studio release, not to mention how passionate he sounds in comparison to his work with Yngwie Malmsteen. As is evident on the title track, “The Altar”, “Child Of The Light”, “The Rulers Of the World” and "Manic Messiah". Without a doubt, these are the kind of tracks that Rolf Munke is known for. Additionally the guitar parts, although not terribly innovative, manage to create stimulating melodies that leave quite an impression. Finally the rhythm section sounds fantastically solid with the most flamboyant playing going to Mike Terrana, while Neil Murray represents the sensible force of the band's foundation. If you like your rock music served up with hard and heavy, GET THIS! Get it immediately!! And crank it up!!!
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
