Press Release

The VANS WARPED TOUR® 2008 Presented By AT&T has announced two more mainstage additions for portions of this summer’s trek. One of punk's most credible and influential bands, Southern California’s Pennywise has been added to the June 20 kick-off show (Pomona) and will continue on the tour through June 29 (Denver). Minneapolis-based pop-rockers Motion City Soundtrack will also join the tour for a two-week trek from July 29 (Pittsburgh) through August 13 (Fresno), which includes a headlining hometown stop at Minneapolis’ Canterbury Park August 3.

VANS WARPED TOUR veterans Pennywise - who’ve sold over three million albums worldwide - are on track to have the fastest growing single of their career with “The Western World” which is continuing its ascent at radio, currently at #20 on the Mediabase Alternative chart. The band has logged over 400,000 free downloads of their new and ninth studio album Reason to Believe (MySpace Records) during a groundbreaking campaign on MySpace. The iconic punk band recently shot a poignant video for “The Western World” which attacks our celebrity-obsessed culture. The video has already received over 500,000 plays on MySpace in just two weeks.

Motion City Soundtrack just released their first-ever acoustic five song EP featuring acoustic versions off their latest release Even If It Kills Me (Epitaph), which debuted at #16 on the Billboard Top 200 Chart and has sold in excess of 115,000 copies to date. USA Today praised the acoustic track “Fell In Love Without You” proclaiming ”MCS reins in this song with a new acoustic version, slowing the tempo and trading pop-punk guitar thrash for elegiac piano chords.” Even If It Kills Me--which features everything from piano ballads to Weezer-worthy rockers--is the highly anticipated follow-up to the group’s mainstream breakthrough Commit This To Memory and their unexpected indie debut I Am The Movie. The dichotomy between upbeat music and contemplative lyricism has not only defined the band since their inception--a fact best exemplified by their fan favorite “L.G. FUAD”--but has allowed them to be a headlining act on the Vans Warped Tour sharing the stage with everyone from punk royalty such as Blink-182 and Fall Out Boy to pop acts like the All-American Rejects and The Format.

Pennywise and Motion City Soundtrack join previously announced VANS WARPED TOUR main stage acts including: Against Me!, All That Remains, Anberlin, Angels and Airwaves, As I Lay Dying, Bouncing Souls, Chiodos, Cobra Starship, Every Time I Die, From First to Last, GBH, Gym Class Heroes, Jack's Mannequin, Matisyahu, Norma Jean, Paramore, Reel Big Fish, Relient K, Rise Against, Say Anything, Story of the Year, Street Dogs, The Academy Is..., The Bronx, The Dillinger Escape Plan and The Vandals, among others.

The 46-date VANS WARPED TOUR® 2008 Presented By AT&T kicks off June 20 in Pomona, CA and wraps August 17 in Los Angeles, CA.
