Steve Lukather :: Ever Changing Times
Frontier Records
CD Review
By The Atomic Chaser
The one thing I love about a Steve Lukather recording is that you never know how he is going to blow your mind, until you press play. Steve Lukather's creativity and musical genius on his latest solo effort, 'Ever Changing Times', can be summed up in one word - AWESOME! On the new album you can hear and feel the real Steve Lukather; groovy, jazzy and of course his trade mark rock sound. A very eclectic mix of styles ranging from heavy tracks to jazzy tunes and his trademark melodic ballads, all held together by his impressive vocal style. This is, in my opinion, the best recording I've heard from Steve. It has everything a Steve Lukather fan could want. Every song has a special flavor, from the groove laden title track to the mid tempo vibe of, "The Letting Go", this is definitively Steve at his upmost best, he has shown that highly. If you love music, you owe it to yourself to get this one, you won't regret, it will be resounding in your mind for a long time after you have turned your stereo off. The list of special guests, includes former Toto singer Joseph Williams and Chicago’s Bill Champlin on background vocals, Leland Sklar on bass, Steve Weingart, Jeff Babko, Randy Goodrum on keyboards and synths, plus, a Steve Porcaro cameo on one track. There is, Abe Laboriel Jr. on drums and other friends and guest stars, who all pitch in, with their immense talent, to ensure a truly exciting and mind-blowing, soul moving experience. A must have for Toto and Luke fans. Great from start to finish, every track is a winner. Steve Lukather shows that he is truly one of the greatest guitar players that have ever walked the earth!
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
