CJ & The Satellites :: Thirteen
Livewire Sweden
CD Review
By The Atomic Chaser
CJ & The Satellites, CJ & The Satellites. Say it, over and over again, roll it around on your tongue. Like the way it feels? Good, 'cos this band will get your rocks off in more ways than you can imagine. And their debut, 'Thirteen' is the reason why. The band features, Wildhearts guitarist / vocalist CJ. CJ handles vocals, lead guitar & keyboards percussion and programming and The Satellites feature on guitar and vocals, Paul Grant (3 Colours Red), on bass Lee Wray (Zen Motel) and on drums Jon Solomon (Modern English). You put it in your CD player and then prepare yourself for the sounds that will blow you away. And let me tell you, brothers and sisters, you'll love every minute of it. The album opens with "Girl's On Fire" a guitar driven mover that will make you dance, then you have, "How Can You Feel" and "This Is Reality", that sound like they were forged from the same ingredients as 'Snapple', made from only the best stuff on the planet. As CJ and the boys deliver that same goodness on tracks, "Song With No Name" and "Myself To Blame". The whole album is chock full of enough to keep air guitarists around the world throwing the windmill riffs until their arms pop out of their sockets. What really sucks you in with this record is the enormous hooks and catchy melodies that are mixed with the wall of guitar fuzz. Over driven Marshall stacks, tasty bass lines, driving drums and vocal harmonies that would make Def Leppard blush. All in all, 'Thirteen', is everything you ever loved about music on one shiny plastic platter. A widescreen trip through the rocky mountains of the tune-infested. If you enjoy your rock'n'roll with contrasts and dynamics, 'Thirteen' by CJ & The Satellites is It. 100% energy throughout. This CD is a speeding ticket waiting to happen. Get your hands on this CD, I'm counting on you. Hats off to CJ & The Satellites for a job bloody well done.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
