Benedictum :: Seasons of Tragedy
Locomotive Records
CD Review
By The Atomic Chaser
After receiving rave reviews from their debut release, 'Uncreation', San Diego's metal juggernaut known as Benedictum are back with their sophmore outing, 'Seasons Of Tragedy'. The band was formed in San Diego and combine awesome riffing, fierce rhythms and one of the most extraordinary voices in Metal, courtesy of metal siren, Veronica Freeman, whose vocals have to be heard to be believed. Wearing the hat of producer is once again by former Dokken bassist Jeff Pilson. 'Seasons of Tragedy' shows a definite maturity in the bands writing ability and artistic relevance. "Beast in the Field" is without a doubt poised to be the instant classic from this album focusing heavily on the monster riffs being laid out by guitarist Pete Wells, a master of crunch in his own right. Besides the aforementioned song, additional worthy mentions include "Shellshock" and "Bare Bones" which are guaranteed to send shivers up and down your spine. 'Seasons Of Tragedy' features 11 brand new songs that encapsulate prime time Dio era Sabbath and Rainbow with the bands trademark sound as well as a cover of the Accept classic "Balls To The Wall" featuring Dokken guitar ace George Lynch and bass player Jeff Pilson. The band also serves up their take on the Rainbow classic in the form of, "Catch the Rainbow", which features, Manni Schmidt (Gravedigger) and Craig Goldy (Dio). 'Seasons Of Tragedy' will definitely be a contender for Metal album on 2008.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
