Jorn :: Unlocking The Past
Locomotive Records
CD Review
By The Atomic Chaser
It's only fitting that Jorn Lande would end up releasing a covers album, 'Unlocking The Past', considering the former vocalist of Masterplan, and about a billion other projects obviously worships at the feet of rock vocal legends like David Coverdale, Ronnie James Dio, and Phil Lynott. He's offered up a few covers before, but this is his first official covers album. Serving up such classic as a killer take on the MSG classic," On and On", the you have, "Fool For You Loving", from the Whitesnake catalog, I don't think this one surprised anyone. Jorn has the kind of voice that would make even David Coverdale do a double take. One of the surprises for me was Jorn's take on one of my favorite Thin Lizzy songs of all time, "Cold Sweat", is there any front man from this generation that wasn't influenced by Mr. Phil Lynott? It is a shame that the American rock radio doesn't take notice to this Norwegian born vocalist and embrace as one of the best rock vocalist to ever come the rock music scene. Credit needs to be given to where it is due. Jorn knows this, hence the release of 'Unlocking The Past'. Fans of Hard Melodic Rock need to buy this and all of his solo material. It's a damn shame that Jorn's popularity doesn't expand beyond Europe. I've heard a lot of material from this talented vocalist, and I've been impressed will all of it. Jorn Lande has one of the most powerful and emotion-provoking voices in hard rock and he proves that tenfold with this release.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
