Guitarist, Singer, and Songwriter Alastair Greene has been a mainstay of the Southern California music scene for nearly two decades. He has played with a multitude of artists, the best known being Alan Parsons, Aynsley Dunbar (John Mayall, Journey, Frank Zappa), and Mitch Kashmar (WAR), among others.
The Alastair Greene Band performs locally at Cozy’s, 14058 Ventura Blvd., Sherman Oaks, Thursday, May 15. Showtime: 9 p.m. Tickets: $5.00. Info: (818) 986-6000.
Greene is currently laying down tracks in the studio for his new CD with renowned blues harmonica player Mitch Kashmar (who’s on tour with WAR), bassist Jim Rankin and drummer, Tom Lackner.

Best known for his blues-based, soulful, and melodic guitar playing (as well as one of a rare-breed to play slide guitar), Alastair can be heard on CDs by Alan Parsons (2006 Grammy Nominated ‘A Valid Path’); Aynsley Dunbar’s Retaliation (new CD due out early 2008 on SPV in Europe); Blues singer, harmonica legend, and member of WAR, Mitch Kashmar (2005 ‘Wake Up and Worry’ on Delta Groove Records), as well as French Blues Guitarist FranckGolwasser’s 2007 release ‘Bluju.’ Alastair has put out 4 of his own CDs (Alastair’s cover band Trio Grande released a new CD ‘Live At SOhO’ in July 2007), which are available from his website www.agsongs.com (as well as here on myspace), and has also appeared on countless independent CD releases ranging from Folk to Blues to Southern Rock.
Greene’s song “The Long Way Home” from his CD, A LITTLE WISER was recently played on the December 3rd episode of the TNT show,
'SAVING GRACE.'
Over the last 10 years, Alastair has appeared at The Santa Barbara Bowl, The House Of Blues in Hollywood, The Roxy, The Whiskey, The Mint, and B.B. King’s at Universal City Walk. In 2004, Alastair was invited to Belgium for the Spring Blues Festival with Mitch Kashmar and Franck Goldwasser. Topping off 2006 was a guest appearance with the Alan Parsons Live Project at a fundraiser at the Arlington Theatre in Santa Barbara. Alastair was again invited onstage with Alan Parsons at Humphrey’s in San Diego in June of 2007. Whether with his own band or as part of others, Alastair has opened shows and shared the stage with The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Robin Trower, John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers, Lonnie Brooks, Lucky Petersen, and many more.

Currently, Alastair is keeping busy playing and recording cover songs and originals with his band (THE ALASTAIR GREENE BAND) combining a variety of classic and obscure blues influences. You can also catch him playing around Central and Southern California (with his band or a variety of others: Mitch Kashmar, Shari Puorto, Zola Moon etc,) including The Deer Lodge (Ojai), Wine Lovers (Ventura), The Blue Dog (Long Beach), Zina’s (Torrance), Ricky Gene’s (Lomita), The Creekside (Santa Barbara), Cold Spring Tavern (Santa Barbara), Avocado Festival (Carpinteria), The Palms (Carpinteria), as well as O’Reilly’s in Grover Beach.
