On Friday, March 8, 2008, Unwritten Law headlined the Key Club on the Sunset Strip in Hollywood. I have had the opportunity to see Unwritten Law perform live on many occasions and they are much like a fine wine…they only get better with age. That very night, Unwritten Law was shooting for an upcoming live DVD release. No details have been released on when the DVD will be hitting stores.
Unwritten Law packed the Key Club full of fans of all ages and rocked harder than they ever have. For those unfamiliar with Unwritten Law, their musical style ranges from punk to pop punk to rock and everything in between. Their show was nothing short of amazing. They just kept ‘rockin’ out hit after hit. The only time the mosh pit took a break was during their acoustic set.
Their set list was full of songs that spanned their entire music career. They played songs such as “Up All Night”, “Save Me”, “Shoulda Known Better” and “C.P.K.” This was the first show in many moons that the headlining band did not play an encore after their supposed final song. Who other than, Unwritten Law to break the trend.
Originally from San Diego, Unwritten Law have been “rockin’ the scene for the last 14 years and there is no sign of them slowing down any time soon! Unwritten Law features Scott Russo on vocals, Steve Morris on guitar, Pat Kim on bass, and Tony Palermo on drums. Their last record, The Hit List, was the Unwritten Law’s seventh full length album and was released in January 2007. Not only did this album feature a few new songs, but also had a few re-recordings of older songs with current members of the band. After signing with their new record label, Suburban Noize Records, Unwritten Law is currently in the recording studio.
Keep an eye for Unwritten Law’s live DVD release and future shows. They will be playing the House of Blues, Anaheim on May 9th & 10th. For more information on the band, merchandise, tour, music, and more, check out at www.unwrittenlaw.com and www.myspace.com/unwrittenlaw.
