Go BackStage with Bryan Rooney
From Liverpool to Ringo to Donna Summer…
By Clio
Haven’t you always wanted to go BackStage? Englishman Bryan Rooney is your personal guide through the highs and lows of the music business as he experienced it during the 1960s, ‘70s, and ‘80s.
Bryan grew up in Liverpool when the Beatles were just getting popular playing at the local pub. He became one of the world’s first roadies by chance, and went off to adventures few could imagine.
In the newly released book “BackStage with Bryan Rooney: From Liverpool to Ringo to Donna Summer…,” Bryan tells firsthand about life on and off the road – and all around the world – with bands like Procol Harum, Reinhard Mey, The Beatles, Harry Nilsson, Keith Moon, Donna Summer, and more. Join the master storyteller as he takes you from concert riots in the Frisian Islands and Milan, through the hallways of Tittenhurst Park, to being pulled over by Malibu cops in an Excalibur with a drunken Keith Moon wearing a Nazi uniform. Celebrate Bryan’s wedding with his best man Ringo Starr, and fly the Concorde with sausages for John Lennon.
Bryan eventually settled in the Los Angeles area and retired from the music business in the late ’80s to be a stay-at-home dad. In 2005, Vince Falzone of Ariey Production was intrigued by his life story, and a collaboration was born which resulted in this book and several videotaped interviews. Bryan struggled valiantly with severe medical issues and, tragically, succumbed to them in 2007 during the book’s initial round of revisions. “BackStage with Bryan Rooney” was finished in his honor, and his portion of the proceeds goes directly to his surviving family.
