The Center of X :: Living Free Again
CD Review
By Dave Hall
"Living Free Again" from The Center of X is the first release from Chris Eliot and Dave Hall who have had extensive Studio and Live experience together since 1990. This CD contains material written about current events such as the recent Southern California fires in 2007, as well as the U.S. troops serving their country, and waiting to come home. There is also "Deep Water" about the devastating Tsunami in the Eastern Pacific. Some songs have an epic theme and are more dramatic and fictional. Strong vocals and melodies are present throughout and powerful drums set the groove for a solid release from the Center of X.
The Center of X: "We would best describe The Center of X Debut CD as an original sounding, but yet familiar sounding. The skull pounding kick of Dave Hall's drum sound and precision, along with a Dream Theatre sound on some of the songs, has helped the transition of 80's Metal and early 90's Metal into today’s modern music.
As we look around today and hear the
80's Metal sound and see the clothes and long hair return to the surface of the Millennium, we are reminded of where it all came from. With "Rock For Always" we salute the Metal Gods of the past and dedicate it to the 80's Metal tribute bands all over the world keeping this alive.
This albums' lyrical content also consists of The War issue over in Iraq and Afghanistan, Troops hoping to return alive, Dedication to the Fire Fighters and victims of the California fires, and World Trade Towers tragic loss, The threat of the H5N1 bird flu epidemic, or worse, Pandemic, and Deep water, about the Tsunami. Also included are Gates of Valhalla, and The Last Rite, which have Epic Themes."
