Tokyo Dragons + New Generation Superstar + Fury UK
Music Box Manchester England
By John Consterdine
After a few years away from the music press, Tokyo Dragons are finally back with a new album and more energy than before.
Kicking off the night were locals Fury UK, who brought many of their own devout fans along as well, with a new drummer and bassist, Fury UK now have a heavier sound which improves the material tenfold. Opening with “Mercenaries” from their first album ”My Tomorrow”, but when they churned out “Breakthrough”, “Mist and Darkness” and “Hear No Evil”, that was what really got the crowd moving, before finishing with the excellent “Death By Lightening”.
Next up was New Generation Superstar, who weren’t really my cup of tea, they were like a hybrid of Glam Rock and old hardcore punk, a bit like if Slash and Vince Neil both joined the Sex Pistols. Though most of their material sounded very similar, there were some highlights of the set, including “Bleed” and “Cus I Can”.
Finally it was time for feel good, party rockers Tokyo Dragons to take to the stage, opening with the groove loaded, “On Your Marks”, followed by “Keeping The Wolf” the crowd were rocking like there was no tomorrow, not bad for a Wednesday night either! Throwing in some other future classics like “Ramblin Jack”, from their new albums “Hot Nuts” followed by the classic “Come On Baby”. Tokyo Dragons are back on top form and ready to take the UK by storm once again! 5 star gig
