The Nines :: Gran Jukle's Field
T.A.S. Records
CD Review
By The Atomic Chaser
The Nines return with their eagerly anticipated brand new release, 'Gran Jukle's Field' a power pop masterpiece that celebrates the traditional formula of quirky lyrics, sitting atop melodies that are both lively and irresistible. Having enjoyed The Nines' previous releases, 'Gran Jukle's Field' was eagerly anticipated, and did not disappoint in the least. This is one of those recordings that I can listen to for days on end without tiring. Irresistibly cheerful and upbeat and amazing. "I Am Lost", has that Bee Gee's vibe to, bringing back memories when music was golden. Then you have, "Virginia", a song that could easily be described as ELO meets Queen. While the title track has that Lennon and McCartney vibe. All of the songs are standouts not a weak one among them. This is pop music of the highest caliber. The new album features collaborations Jason Falkner (Grays, Jellyfish, Paul McCartney) , Bleu (L.E.O), and Tim Bovaconti (Ron Sexsmith) . Suffice to say that they threw everything plus the kitchen sink into the mix and amazingly it all works. The songs are all well written, with lyrics and vocals that are simply beautiful for the most part. A bright and cheerful overall mood is created with intelligence and poise. This is a record that, I believe, everyone who loves music should own. 'Gran Jukle's Field' is a pleasure to the ears and comes HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
