The Cult :: Born Into This
Roadrunner Records
CD Review
By The Atomic Chaser
UK sonic rockers The Cult return with their highly anticipated eight studio release, 'BORN INTO THIS' and sound better than ever! For me, The Cult has always epitomized what pure rock and roll energy should sound like. They prove that ten fold here. The title track gets this power keg started in rocking fashion. The song has that signature Cult sound, that comes fully loaded with kickass guitar riffs. Likewise, "Citizens" has another great sequence of riffs and builds spellbinding tension. Billy Duffy's guitar work is pure electric and exciting, while Ian Astbury vocal's sound tougher and better than ever. Bassist Chris Wyse and drummer Joey Tempesta provide the band with a rock solid foundation. The chemistry between the band is air tight as they show off on the lead off single, "Dirty Little Rockstar" which is just killer slice of riff based rock that maintains that the old-school bombastic rock sound to perfection. Then you have the tribal stomp rocker, "I Assassin" that is an instant shot of adrenaline. Closing it out the boys serve up the guitar driven mover, "Sound Of Destruction". Produced by Martin "Youth" Glover (The Killing Joke) and mixed by Clive Goddard (Primal Scream), 'Born Into This' can be played all the way through and never falters or fails. So if you're into rock and roll that makes you feel like celebrating or just want to get your rocks off, you can't go wrong with The Cult. These guys have been doing it for years! I guarantee you will crank this bad boy to the max, grab a guitar or even a broom handle, and rock out in your bedroom like a madman. 'Born Into This' does a very fine job of capturing the true spirit of the band, this album is a must for any true fan of The Cult.
