Great White takes a bite out of Las Vegas
By Valerie Nerres
Like the fearsome, deadly denizen of the deep that shares its name, Great White knows something about survival of the fittest. The Southern California blues-rock band first took a bite out of the rock scene in 1984 and has never let go.
Celebrating 25 years together with a reunion tour, Great White kicked off their tour with a sold out show on Saturday, November 30th at Club Madrid inside of Sunset Station in Las Vegas. Fans waited in line around the corner and those lucky enough to have a ticket were treated to an evening of classic Great White songs along with some new material of their newly released album “Back to the Rhythm” on Shrapnel Records.
Opening the show with “Desert Moon”, Jack Russell (vocals), Sean McNabb (bass) who was also a contributor at the recent "All Access Magazine" music awards event and is also pursuing an acting career appearing in a play called "Flirting with Morty" at the Acme theater in Hollywood on La Brea, Mark Kendall (guitar), Michael Lardie (guitar/keyboards), most recently with Night Ranger, but re-joining the band for the Anniversary tour and
Audie Desbrow (drums) continued to bring to the crowd classic hits, like “Face the Day”, “On your knees”, “Mistabone”, “House of Broken Love”, “Rollin’ Stoned”, “Save Your love”, “Rock me”, along with “Standing on the Edge “a new release of their new album.
The band sounded and looked tighter than I’ve seen them in a long time an encore that included “Can’t Shake it” and an amazing rendition of Led Zeppelin’s No Quarter. Definitely a show you do not want to miss.
Their tour takes them to a few more dates in the U.S. and then heads off to Europe.
