Shotgun Blues
By Scott M.
I caught this really cool new local act called Shotgun Blues by accident one night and was thoroughly impressed. They were in the middle of an elongated jam session upon my entrance and were really, really LOUD, which was a good thing. As they ended their set with a cover of Zeppelin's "Moby Dick," the drum solo from Dan Velasco was awe inspiring. I'm sure John Bonham himself was looking on in spirit. You will be hearing about this drummer in the years to come I'm sure of it. It's always so refreshing to see a young band carry the influences of the Rock And Metal masters on their backs.
The band's Bio follows:
Shotgun Blues began late in the summer of the year 2005. The band was originally a jam trio that consisted of Andrew Posada on bass, Daniel “Mucho Mango” Velasco on drums, and Ralf Machuca on guitar. Ever since the first jam session the music flowed freely and the three musicians’ minds and souls seemed to be interconnected by an unexplainable Rock n’ Roll energy. For about six months, the three continued jamming and playing numerous gigs while also creating their own original material. A short while after, vocalist Monique Leiva joined and solidified what has now become Shotgun Blues. With her unique and strong vocal abilities, her voice fit perfectly with the band’s Rock n’ Blues attack and free flowing musical chemistry. Shotgun Blues was born to deliver some of the most electrifying live performances that our young generation has seen, bringing Rock n’ Roll straight into your souls. www.myspace.com/theshotgunblues
